Field visit with CARE in Nepal Nov. 2006

Report 2006

Much of my work in 2006 has been a continuation of my activities in the two years, since I left the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR). In the field of media and management I have had the opportunity to give lectures in Belgium, Moldova, Norway, Slovenia, Finland, Italy and Greenland and roughly 50 lectures in Denmark covering a broader area of themes.
The work editing a book commissioned by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) with contributions from 16 authors was finished in the spring and the book was published by John Libbey Publishing. The title is: “Making a Difference. Public Service Broadcasting in the European Media Landscape”. I participated in a seminar at this year’s Prix Italia in Venezia, where the book was presented.
This autumn I have finished working with a book (in Danish) on my 10 years with DR, which will be published in the spring 2007. I have also contributed to the Danish newspaper “Information” with a monthly commentary on media.
For the Danish Ministry of Economic & Business Affairs I evaluated their centre of creative development (Mindlab) and presented the results at an EU seminar in Warsaw. In the spring I continued the work for the Danish Evaluation Institute (EVA) accrediting the Danish University Colleges as chairman of the panel in charge of the process.
By joining the board of Roskilde University I returned to the university environment. As vice chairman of CARE Denmark I participated in this year’s general assembly of CARE International in Chennai, India. The trip to India also made it possible to visit a number of very successful CARE projects in Nepal, see photo.
All in all 2006 has been as busy as previous years. It has been a privilege for me to work with so many dedicated and fine people all enthusiastically engaged in endeavours of great importance.
